• CTC Math Online Review

CTC Math is a very thorough online math program!   They offer math lessons for kids that attend school somewhere, and for homeschoolers.   Their materials for homeschoolers cover a core curriculum, and could be used as a base program.  We were given access to their 12 month Family Plan, which gives us access to all the grade levels, for up to ten students!    They are NOT based on Common Core. 🙂 CTC Math offers a wide variety of curriculum options, all broken down into manageable sections.   Their instruction begins with kindergarten, goes all the way through elementary school, and includes more intimidating subjects like Algebra, Algebra II,…

These have all helped me in my health journey.  They come from one of two places: Amazon and Life Science Publishers.   Enjoy! • A Busy Homeschool Mom’s Guide to Daylight Review

Motherhood is busy.  There’s no doubt about it.  Heidi St. John, in her book A Busy Homeschool Mom’s Guide to Daylight by Real Life Press, extends a lifeline to harried homeschool moms who are trying, every day, to give their kids a solid education that will prepare them well for life outside the nest, and do all the other things that moms do like cleaning, laundry, making dinner, and, let’s not forget, being a wife and a friend. This tidy volume is just the right length.  It’s not so brief that it leaves out important aspects of life & homeschooling, but it’s not so long that a busy mom can’t find…

  • Help Fund an Orphanage in Sierra Leone!

My friend Lindsay and her husband, Kevin, started a children’s clothing line last summer called Wazziwoo.   This month, they are doing something special to help orphans in Sierra Leone. Wazziwoo is excited to announce a beautiful partnership with our dear friends at Touch the Nations! For the month of April, 10% of all proceeds will go towards their newest initiative to build an orphanage for Ebola orphans in Sierra Leone. We, at Wazziwoo, have BIG hearts for the littles of this world, especially those without an earthly mom and dad. So we are honored to play a small role in providing a home and family for these sweet ones…

  • Advanced Allergy Therapeutics – Visits 2 – 4

I promised an update after a few Advanced Allergy Therapeutics visits and here it is!   If you missed the first post where I introduce AAT and the journey we are embarking on, check it out here:  Advanced Allergy Therapeutics – Day 1. Since my first post, Hubby has had 2 more visits.   At visit #2, Dr. Hassam tested him to see if he was holding the histamine treatment she’d done the week before.  She put the cuff around his arm, and stressed tested him for the histamines.   He didn’t react this time!!   So, they decided to address dust next.   She sent the dust signal into…

  • Advanced Allergy Therapeutics – Day 1

Allergies can be a BEAR.  Who’s with me?  My husband has struggled with them for years.   We’ve definitely seen improvement in his symptoms over the last few years, but we haven’t had sustained breakthrough.    He’s off the OTC allergy meds, except for a couple times a year.   He’s been using essential oils like Young Living lavender, peppermint, and lemon, and that helps a LOT.   He also did a colon cleanse, and did better while we were living in Kansas City.  Moving south set him off again though.  We’re considering moving farther south, near the national forest and my family, but that REALLY sets off his allergies.…

  • How to Never Vacuum Again

Did you read the title and think, “Right.  That’ll never be possible!”?   Read on, my friends!   Susan Count has some great advice for you! My house has never been cleaner!   I’m vacuuming like a maniac and I love it! You should see my edges and corners; I even get under things. The best part is that literally happens WITHOUT me. I’ve longed for a Roomba for years. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG? The 650 model is the same price as any run of the mill upright. My old vacuum? It sits in a closet – plugged in. I take the dustbin in there and let my…

My first review is of an online education site called SchoolhouseTeachers.com.   I was generously given a yearly membership!    It is an IMPRESSIVE collection of curriculum, ranging in ages from toddler through high…

  • How are Essential Oils Made?

Attention do-it-yourself’ers!   When you make things, are you hoping to save money and have a better product?  (read: less chemicals)    When I got into essential oils, it didn’t take me long to go down the “I wonder if I can do this at home” path. The short answer? “Yes, I could.  But unless the zombie apocalypse has started, I won’t.” Want to know why?   I can’t do it better than Young Living!   While the overall process looks simple, it is actually SUPER complicated!  At Young Living, their employees are trained on the distillation process for 6-7 YEARS before they are released to distill on their own!…

  • Fermented Vegetables 101

Fermented Vegetables by Susan Count I thought I would have to hold my nose to eat “ugh” – fermented vegetables. Sauerkraut, I thought! Who would eat that? But somewhere I picked up that fermented vegetables could put good bacteria in my gut and help with my acid refux. WRONG! It didn’t just help – it changed EVERYTHING! And I think it helped me lose a little weight too and that never hurts. I substituted a big forkful of fermented vegetables at dinner instead of eating rice or potatoes or pasta. Cutting the Cost A quart of fermented vegetables at the store can run about $10. A cabbage, a couple carrots and…
