• Betrayal by Think Dirty App

We have long relied on the Think Dirty App to help us identify products that are healthier and less toxic. It gave us ratings on how good or bad something was in regards to being cancer causing, toxic to our reproductive/developmental systems, and allergies and immunotoxins. The app has changed, and those indicators NO LONGER appear. Worse, many of the products that were once rated badly now appear with MUCH better ratings. Products that were a 10 have changed to a 5, overnight. Other products, as I was searching for them, popped up as the 9 or 10 they once were, then gave an app error, and reverted to a…

  • How to Slash Your Health Insurance Bill

The holidays are upon us (yay!), and, for many of us, that means it’s time to renew our health care plans.   Some of you may have awesome health care, and thumbs up if you do!  Many more folks, however, pay at least an arm and a leg (sometimes two arms and two legs) for health care coverage. Almost 4 years ago, we switched a new model of health care coverage that has been AWESOME for us.   It’s called a healthcare sharing plan, and we use Samaritan’s Ministries for ours!   We pay a flat monthly premium for our entire family, and we can choose any provider we like.  My…

I am so excited to tell you about soap nuts!!  I was sick of all the chemicals in even the ‘green’ laundry detergents and both intimidated and not sure of the ingredients in the typical homemade recipes. THEN I heard about soap nuts.  And my laundry world has been forever changed.  (Guess I’m feeling dramatic tonight.) Soap nuts are actually soap berries.  They grow on trees in India, Nepal, and China.  (I’ve heard you can grow them here but haven’t gotten that far into it yet).  The harvesters pick them and husk them.  According to Wikipedia, they have…

  • Our super duper awesome holistic doctor

My friend Kandace introduced us to a doctor in Irving that is just awesome.  Her parents have been going to him, and now several people in my family have gone.  His work is absolutely revolutionary.  He is both an MD and a naturopath and he has more knowledge in his pinkie than I might ever have… Ok, that’s probably an exaggeration but this guy is extraordinary! A friend, who shall remain nameless for identity protection purposes, just felt really lousy all the time.  Dr. Tennant put together an entire program for him, focused mostly on diet and some supplements, as well as the electrical balance in his body.  A month after his first visit, he…
