Weathering Faith – How to Handle Unanswered Prayers
We all go through hard times when our faith is challenged. Too often, we either shove down the tough questions that arise or walk away from God all together. Unanswered prayers can present a significant challenge to a Christian’s faith, but the discouragement doesn’t have to remain. Pastor Sarah shares her journey of healing from the loss of their newborn son and how she struggled towards God in the midst of her turmoil. Transcript: Weathering Faith For the last twenty years, until about 2020, we have experienced unprecedented peace and prosperity in the US. Safe Gaming Option: The Nintendo Switch
My husband was right. Should I say that again? My. husband. was. right. He researched this new game console, and spent months talking me into it. I am not a fan of video games. While a tiny part of my heart remains loyal to my childhood memories of Mario, the rest of my psyche views them as a gigantic time waster, and a great way for 25 year old guys to end up still living at home, eyes glued to a screen and controllers attached to their hands. I’ve had conversations with my kids about not being “media zombies” and, thus far, this sage wisdom 🙂 seems to be sinking…

Bunny Love…
My sweet girl loves to cuddle. She’s 7 now, and still fairly insatiable. She’s one of those kids that would still be in the Ergo, if she’d fit. I started keeping my eye out for cats on Facebook and showed my hubby a few pics…to give her something to cuddle. But while I like cats, I don’t like litter boxes, scratched furniture, or incessant meowing. Therefore, I was still on the fence about actually getting one. Right before Christmas, I got a surprise email from my mom. It went something like, “I’m going to get a bunny for Sweetheart. Want to go with me?” Lol. I thought…

How to Break the Thumb-Sucking Habit Plus Free Printable!
My Sweetheart has sucked her thumb since she was a baby. I was thankful at the time to not have to constantly hunt for the stray pacifier, but I knew we’d get to the point where we had to kick the habit. I held out hope that she would stop on her own, but as she approached seven years old, and her front teeth started to come in, I knew the time had arrived. This sweet girl can be rather… strong-willed, so I knew I needed to be on top of my game. She also LOVES her thumb sucking, so I was going to have to really motivate…

Celebrating Advent
Guest post by Lindsay from The Oil Aisle. I love to celebrate Advent. The word advent simply means “coming” or “arrival.” The focus of the entire season of advent is the anticipation and the celebration of the birth of Jesus, and the anticipation of the return of Christ in his second advent. I started an “advent calendar” with my son, Carsen in December when he was 19 months old. He really didn’t have a clue that year or the next. But now that he is 3.5 years old he has a much better understanding of the different activities we do each day. Each December 1st, we start our advent season…

To Santa or Not to Santa
Christmas is one of my favorite times of year! I love to give gifts, and it’s so fun for me to pick out gifts I think each person would love. I also love all the fun stories related to the holidays, and my favorites are about Jesus! So many parents feel divided about what to say about Santa to their kids, so I wanted to share what we’ve chosen to do. Truth or a Fun Story? With so many fun stories in our culture, it can be hard for kids to sort out which stories are true and which ones are make-believe. I’ve had a practice for years now, when I’m…
