I regularly scour the Internet for copywork and so I was eager to try out the offerings from Homeschool Copywork! They offer three levels of membership, and kindly gave us a Lifetime Membership to their site.
I like to incorporate regular copywork into our schooling for a number of reasons. The most obvious is that my kiddos need to practice their handwriting!! Good handwriting doesn’t just come naturally to kids (right?!), and so they need to practice! I well remember learning to write in cursive in 3rd grade, and practicing over and over (and over) again!
I also like to give my kids copywork because it gives them examples of good grammar and sentence structure. When they write out sentences from sources like famous classical authors and the Bible, it expands their vocabulary and improves their literacy.
Like memorizing poetry, copywork is a good method to introduce ideas and concepts to kids. Copying 1 Cor 13 offers a great opportunity to think about what that Scripture means, and how we can apply it to our everyday living!
Homeschool Copywork offers a wide variety of copywork options, and I really appreciate having a one-stop shop! It cuts down on my prep time for school!
Each newer ebook offers five styles of writing, so you can pick your favorite and adjust for age. The styles include: Ball and Stick Manuscript, D’Nealian Manuscript, Lined Cursive, and Unlined Print and Cursive for older students. The older ebooks contain at least two different line styles or sizes and manuscript or cursive options.
There are over 54 different ebooks currently available on the site, in a wide variety of categories. The copy work is divided into age groups, to help make it easier for us to find good material for our kiddos. You can pick between Early Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Junior High – High School.

As you can tell, there are a plethora of choices! We decided to begin with the Transportation Notebooking Pages (for my toddler), My Animal Alphabet (for my Sweetheart), and the Dragons of the Bible ebook (for Super D). They really enjoyed these!! My Sweetheart went so far as to color a number of the pages, and cut them out around the animals to decorate my room. She made super cute birds and cats! The Dragons of the Bible ebook picks out Scriptures that mention dragons. There are a surprising number of them!! Super D really enjoyed the cool dragon pictures interspersed in the ebook.
