  • Review: Captain Absolutely from Focus on the Famliy

Like most moms of homeschool boys, I’m always on the lookout for quality reading material that will hold their interest. It’s not easy to come by!   This new release from Focus On The Family called Captain Absolutely seemed like it would be a hit for my 10 year old Super D.  The cover alone was engaging, as he’s very into super heroes! Captain Absolutely is written by Wooten Z. Bassett.  He creates comics for Adventures in Odyssey and this book actually took him 5 years to write and illustrate!  He wrote it two pages at a time for their Clubhouse magazine. This book took Super D a couple of hours to read.   It’s…

  • Review: The Secret Bridge

Quality reading material is hard to come by for kids these days!  There is a lot of junk on the market, but very few books that both are engaging to read and communicate good values.   I am a believer in the classics, but, as you know if you’ve read any, those are tough to read sometimes!   That’s fine for high school, but I’m still in the earlier reading stages with my kiddos.    Lamplighter Publishing has reprinted an old classical called The Secret Bridge and kindly sent it to us to review. This novel was originally published in 1889, late in author Amy Le Feuvre’s life. The book itself is BEAUTIFUL.…

  • Review: ArtAchieve Level 2

As you might know if you’ve read my blog for very long, I am not an artsy kind of gal – biology, genetics, and chemistry is much more my cup of tea!   My kids love to do art, and I know I need outside help.  lol.    We reviewed ArtAchieve‘s Level 1 program last year, so when we were offered the opportunity to review their Entire Level 2, I went for it.  I had a great idea of the quality to expect, and we were not disappointed.  It’s generally recommended for ages 7 and up.  My Sweetheart is 7 (drawing on the right in the top graphic) and Super D…
